Are my files uploaded to FileMoat?
No. The tool runs entirely inside your browser tab. Your files are read from your device, processed in memory and saved back to your device. Nothing is sent to our server — you can even disconnect from the internet after the page loads and it keeps working.
What quality setting should I use?
Around 75–80% is visually identical for most photos while cutting size dramatically. Go lower for thumbnails.
How are PNG files compressed?
With “Keep format”, PNGs are reduced to an optimised colour palette — the technique used by TinyPNG. Transparency is preserved. For photos saved as PNG, WebP or JPG usually shrinks them even more.
What if an image can't get smaller?
We never hand back a bigger file. If an image is already well optimised at your settings, you get the original and we tell you so.
