FAQ
Good to know
Are my files uploaded to FileMoat?
No. The tool runs entirely inside your browser tab. Your files are read from your device, processed in memory and saved back to your device. Nothing is sent to our server — you can even disconnect from the internet after the page loads and it keeps working.
Do the JPGs keep my photo's location?
No. The converted files contain only the picture: GPS location, date and camera details are not copied over. Keep the original HEIC if you need that information.
Will I lose quality?
JPGs are saved at 92% quality, which looks the same as the original to the eye. Choose PNG for a lossless copy (the files are much larger).
Why won't my computer open HEIC files?
HEIC is an efficient format Apple adopted in 2017, but support outside Apple devices is still patchy — Windows needs extra extensions and many websites reject it. JPG works everywhere.
