FAQ
Good to know
Are my files uploaded to FileMoat?
No. The tool runs entirely inside your browser tab. Your files are read from your device, processed in memory and saved back to your device. Nothing is sent to our server — you can even disconnect from the internet after the page loads and it keeps working.
What if my files have different columns?
Columns are matched by their header name. A column that exists in only some files is kept, and left empty for rows from the other files. We tell you when this happens.
Can I merge files with different separators or encodings?
Yes. Each file's delimiter (comma, semicolon, tab) and encoding (UTF-8, UTF-16, Windows-1252) is detected separately, and the result is written as UTF-8 that Excel opens correctly.
